I have a 90 gallon fresh water planted tank with a Marineland c503 canister,a DIY co2 generator, a HOB, a home made bio filter and an undergravel filter with powerheads, (I seem to hear UGF are not worth the trouble).  I am thinking of adding a UV filter to the system.  Is there any benefit to this?  Another issue, what is it about dirting a tank.  Is there any benefit to this compared to the 4" of gravel I already have?  My fish seem to be doing well and the plants are growing well.

With a uv u won't have cloudy water. With dirt you won't have to dose ferts and ur fish will be doing equally the same but ur plants will flourish with dirt. Their are pros and cons to many to list just make sure if u dirt ur tank u do ur reaserch on dirted tanks really good

I probably will get a UV, but dirting a tank sounds like a pile of work, not to mention getting rid of 200 lbs. of gravel. Thanks.
