they are cool looking but ive been told that they need to come above water to take breath or they will die, how true is this idk cuz my walmart has tons of them and they dont die atleast u dont see dead crabs there

They are supposed to be kept in brackish (slightly salty) water and need a place to get out of the water. I think they need more salt than most fresh water fish enjoy and way more than plants want. You would want to research brackish water setups. There are some brackish water fish becoming available.

not much people keep crab with fish.

it might be good by itself in a fish tank.

And while we are talking about crab, some require surface breathing too and there are some that are true aquatic and stay in the water their whole life (the one you want).

well i got some from walmart and i looked up brackish set ups and i had some were for them to come out of the water. evrything was going wel and then one day they just fell apart and died. well it was the day i added plants to the tank. so i gess they dont mix well together.

First thing i was told about them is they need a place to get out of the water. They are hostile with catfish or any other fish dwelling on the bottom. There is a generous amount of info about them on the internet, but in my opinion if you have expensive or loved fish in the tank, i will not recommend buying.
