I have several Otocinclus Catfish and about 8 Ghost Shrimp in my 150gal planted tank. These inhabitants are destined to be lonely until next spring as i am deploying for military service. I am currently having a minor issue with hair algae and would like to squash the issue before i deploy, but do not want my sword plants destoryed... what can i do to maintain the hair algae whilst i am away? I am thinking a few Siamese Algae Eaters... would this be the right organism for the job or should i get snails? I believe snails (mystery snails specifically) may over run the tank by the time i return though.
