snails are good for algae, but if there's too many of them...they will turn to plants for food....you will notice when u see ur plants has holes on the leaves.....sometimes like dustin's said due to lack of potassium....which is true...... for my case its not the case....

this is what i did....

1] bought a mini puffer fish (i do not know what species is it but does not grow big)

2] left it inside the tank.......(for 2 weeks)

3] snails population decreased by 50% - 30%

4] remove the puffer from the tank....after ur done & kept it in other non planted tank

that's how  i do it....guys if u were in my position what would u do?

i would just buy 2 assassin snail and let them be in my tank which has a bit of MTS.

thanks for the input Hmoobthor

Get a clown loach mine eats them lik crazy and keeps the population of shrimp and snails dwn :)

I get tons of snails from time to time in my nano. When i do my water change I remove as many as i see and drop them in my other tank for mine clown loach to eat.  I don't really get bugged by seeing snails. They don't eat my plants.
