not really sure if you really like white color in your tank...lol

 

I usually go for daylight or high noon bulb.

Actinic is pretty much useless for a planted tank, unless you want to see how much algae you can grow. Its more suited for saltwater. 10,000k is ok, but I would go with one bulb in the 5,000+k range and one in the 6,500-6700k range. 10,000k can be added as a 3rd bulb to bring out some colors and give a deeper look to the tank. I have that setup with good results and only some GSA here and there on the glass.

well i have two of the duel strips....your saying i should run 4 different bulbs?

Im ordering new bulbs....but in the mean time should I take out the Actinics...and just run all 10,000k daylights?

Yeah take out the actinic and use the 10,000s for now.  When you get your new bulbs you can start out running all 4.  Just watch the algae.  You could have too much light.  Then you'd need to either remove one of the fixtures or use Co2.

10000k is too much especially if its duel T5HO.

 

I would look out for algae and decrease the kelvin if its show signs.

10K is fine to use.  I just wouldn't run all 10K and nothing else.  IMO you want to get as much as the spectrum as possible.  A 10K peaks in the mid 400nm range while an actinic peaks in the low 400nm range and has some UV runover.  Which is why it promotes algae growth in freshwater tanks.  I like to use a 10K to get that blue peak.  It enhances your fish's color better.

 

I run 2 6500 CFLs, 1 5000 T5HO & 1 10,000K T5HO for 8 hours a day with a siesta and have no algae besides some GSA on the glass here and there.  It wasn't always that way though.  You will need to find the balance for your tank.  It will take a while to achieve that balance.  It's a lot of trial and error.

What is in the tank? Is it a planted tank (here i mean fully planted with fertz dosing, co2 and so on), community, fish only, marine or what? Different tanks have very different light requirements.

It will be a heavy planted tank with amazon,val, and some other grasses and whatnot.No c02, dirted tank. Mostly angelfish..

I run a pair of twin-bulb T5's on my 65 gallon, and I spread the spectrum out on mine...I have a 5000K "ColorMax" bulb, a pair of 6700K, and a 10000K bulb.  I put the 5000K and the 10000K bulbs on the "inside" of the tank, and the 6700K in the "outside" positions.  It's been working well for me, haven't had a whole lot of algae growth or green water in my tank, except when I forget to shut the lights off when I'm up late and I let the lights go 12+ hours.
