I want to upgrade my filter and was thinking about purchasing this one from Dr Fosters http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=12320

Ive heard I need 10 times the GPH of my tank, which in this case is 10 gallons so 100 GPH would be what I need. Is this correct? Is this a good filter? I definitely like the price and it is an upgrade for me, I just want to make sure. Thanks-

yea thats a good filter. u can up the gph and get bigger filter nothing wrong w/ over filtering. the current on the bigger filters might be to much tho for a 10g. but if ur under stocking ur tank and not over feeding u should be ok with a filter rated for 10g. if ur planning on doing weekly wc u can get that 10g penguin filter and over stock ur tank a bit. wc help remove waste and makes it easier on ur filter to keep ur tank more or less clean. if u want to drop a bit of money get a turtle canister filter. their small canister filters that fit small tanks like 5-10g. zoomed 501 canister filter is wat its called if u want to take a peek at it.

Thanks. I have 90% decided on the Penguin BIO-filter 200. That way I can filter the shit out of my tank. Literally.
