I bought three angle fish from petco, the next day one died, so i went to exchange him for another one, that one died also the next day. So i went to just plainly get my money back and one of the employees suggested i by one from another store, so i went to the nearest fish store and got 2 angle fish. This leaves me with 4 angel fish. Today, another one died, the one i bought from petco. Why are they dying? Are they stressed becasue of other fish? I have 6 black skirt tetras and 2 serpea tetras in the same tank.  I got my water checked and it was perfect, temp is 75 degrees. Also, I noticed that right before the angle fish died they were always at the top of the tank, looked like they were gasping for air (i have an airstone on) . They also had stringy white poop, internal parasites i thought, so i treated my tank....what's wrong? The ones i bought from the fish store are going good.

they could be stressed, did they isolate themselves before they died?

Yes, they go to the top left back corner behind the plants. And all of them die in the same exact spot...weird.

your not acclimating them right....are u just floating them in the bag in your tank like most people?

i also notice you say you just recent setup two tank oct. 25. Your tank is improper cycle and getting ammonia spike and killing your fish.

Anglefish need mature tank.

Your first mistake was buying livestock from petco. Support your LFS. Always ask how long the fish have been in the store. They could have just came in. I don't know if they have a quarantine period before selling or how long it is. Make sure the fish has been there for at least a couple of weeks. If you notice at many LFS you'll see "not for sale" or "save for so and so". They have been bought on the condition that it survives for a quarantine period. Mostly its done with expensive salt water specimens, but they will do it for almost anybody. Its good business. I know this doesn't help with your specific problem, but can help in the future.

I just learned from the friend that i have to accumulate them before i put them in the tank.

They are in my 30g which has been set up since august, got my water checked and ammonia levels are at 0

thanx for the info.

That's good. Good luck.

well, first of all you shouldn't buy fish from petco, especially good quallity fish like angels. You could probubly get away with buying neons from petco because they're inexpenceve, but angels, no. That's my guess. :)

good luck! :)

i had bad problems with angels to, petco isnt the best place to buy angels and i hear serpaes can stress your angels
