75 gallons

Marineland Emperor HOB filter for 50 gallons with one filter insert with carbon and one piece of sponge

Canister Fluval 305 with ceramic media in two trays and floss in middle tray 

organic soil with laterite clay and a few handfuls of peat moss (I know this can cause staining but it is capped with the substrate)

two cap substrates tan gravel and black gravel

two 48 inch plant lights

local rocks

one upright driftwood purchased online and one local found. both have been removed and added another piece that came with the tank set up. I know their water was not yellow with it in. 

Two air stones

java fern, java moss, anaubias, amazon sword, tiger lotus, ludwigia, jungle val, dwarf sag and a cork screw sag(i think)

4 glass cats

5 bronze cats

3 panda corys

6 Rummy nose

8 Neons

7 Zebra Danios

1 Glow light tetra

It has to be the driftwood, peat, or not big enough water changes. I have never used peat in my tanks but I have had yellow water with driftwood. 40% to 50% water changes every other day cleared it up in 3 to 4 days. From my experience you get yellow water from driftwood , and red-brown water if the cap over the dirt isn't thick enough. The other thing is I wouldn't use carbon in ur filters with a planted tank. Hopefully the new wood will not color the water and all the old wood has been removed.  There is only a few handfuls of peat in the mix and it is below at least and inch of cap.  I do big, 40 to 50% changes weekly to try to get the color out.  And I have only one carbon filter in there trying to clear out the yellow if possible.  As soon as the water color thing is figured out I will be removing the carbon filter.  The water is clear and tests find it just looks dingy.

You can also use Seachem Purigen.  It pulls all of the organic compounds out of the water within hours.

I hope you boiled your driftwood before u put it in your tank! When u get drift wood, you need to cure it. Boil it for 1-2 hours. The color you have is from the tannins in the driftwood. Boil it and most of the tannins will be released.
