I actually want one or two nice SPS pieces, something cool and branching. But they take so damn long to grow

Well this hobby does relay a lot on patience. I found Millepora to be the best looking SPS, and one of the fastest growing (IMO). But if given the right parameters, any SPS can take off. You shouldn't let a bit of patience discourage you.
