Hi I read a comment about you trying to breed bettas. But it seems like the male wasn't ready to breed just yet. If you keep her next to the tank or at least devide it and let them see eachother for at least a couple of days before you try to breed them the process would go smoother although it is common for one or the other to get a bit beat up during the process. They like it fairly rough I guess. But if you don't see the male wrap around the female and "squeeze her eggs out" then they are simply fighting and trying to kill eachother.
