i have been growing planted tanks for 2 years or at lease trying to learn on my own, i have a planted 75 that i have been struggling  with for year, i can really only grow java ferns and java moss it it, and if i try really hard i can get stem plants going fro a while. but his is how i have it set up

    3 maxlight 85 watt cfl 

    a penguin bio-wheel 350

    a cascade 300 internal filter with a air line in the impeller for circulation

    1-1/2'' peegravel on the bottom and two 4'' tall mounds of gravel surrounded by rocks the gravel cam out of a local gravel pit

    300 watt heater

    two big chunks of African drift woods covered by java ferns

if u see a flaw in this set up let me know.

my 20's set up id  little diff. heres what i got going on with that:

    a secondnature wisper powerfilter

    slandered store bought gravel

    a 15 watt grolux bulb

this tank is doing ok i can grow swords, ferns, and java moss

im still learning like i said i have been growing for 2 years now, not too much success. found this websit threw fish tanks on youtube and i think ill be trying out the dirtied tank
