Im starting this blog for my 180 gallon planted tank to not only have a record of the evolution of the tank but for others as well. When I was first starting my tank there was not really any information from people with bigger tanks, especially on this site so hopefully this will help some of you out and feel free to ask questions. I plan on updating with a picture once a month.

WEEK ONE:

Lighting: 36" and 48" Finnex Ray 2 dual 7000K LED (I got a the 48" strip for the price of the 36" so i just bought that instead of another 36") & 4 clip on lights with 26 watt daylight cfl bulbs just for a little extra light.

Substrate: Miracle Grow organic choice, possible pressurized co2 in the future.

Plants: Just ask if your interested about a certain one.

Stocking

Clean up crew: 3 Bristle nose, SAEs, 4 otos

Small fish: cory cats, 21 serpae tetras, 2 pairs of kribs, paradise gourami

Large Fish: 3 clown loachs, blue gourami, 3 roseline sharks, several boesemani, turquoise, australian, and millenium rainbow fish.

Tank looks good already - I put a CO2 system w/solenoid / paintball cylinder  &  timer on my 65gal tall  Aquarium one month ago - works great and the plants are doing fantastic !!

Thanks, im just trying to get everything grown in, get some foreground plants and get the red tiger lotus going again. Im thinking about doing that co2 system too, do you have a link for the set up? I cant seem to find one that has the solenoid and timer.

Re:  Link for CO2

I live up in Canada and bought mine off a store on the web - I'm sure there is some in the states or you can try E-bay.  The timer is just a reg timer you buy at the hardware store. CO2 will make your plants grow amazing but with a large tank like yours I would use a power jet to move the CO2 around the tank . Good luck with the tank !!
