I would do dirt 1/2" layer with pool filtered sand 1"- 1 1/2" layer , or any sand of ur choice for ur substrate

Just be aware that angel fish are not as angelic as their name suggests.  Mine ended up killing most of the fish I had some years ago.  So make sure your other fish can defend themselves.

I told u in first post put down 1/2" layer of dirt 1" layer sand cover with water plant like crazy and fill. Waterchanges daily for the next week 50% at least then every 2 days the second week then after that ur ok

What kind of dirt do I use? Like bagged compost or like mud out of the ground?

Seachem florite sand, dirt or Acadama bonsai clay/soil if you want the plants to look good.

miracle grow organic.  it has a lot of wood chips but works really well and you can find it any where.

Miracle Gro organic choice potting mix, found at your local Home Depot.

Miracle gro organic choice, or any organic (read no chem fertilizers) soil that is around .10 .06 .10 on the bag. I mixed a little peat with mine, and mixed fluorite with a medium gravel. appox 1 inch soil layer, 1 inch gravel mix on top. Oh, and you can throw natural red potters clay on the bottom if ya want to as well.

The water changes Peter mentioned are important and mandatory from what I understand (I'll be posting the build and the days after, I'm planting tomorrow "when" the plants arrive).

Soil will leech ammonia and nitrates as well as other things, especially in the beginnings, so frequent changes are key, or you melt your plants to the point of no return.
