Care Level: Easy - Moderate

Origin: South America, Amazon River

Size: Up to 10" if kept in a tall enough aquarium

Water Parameters: PH 6-8, soft water is prefered.

Temperature: 24-30c can go higher if you're keeping Altums

Food: These are omnivores so a mixture of meaty foods along with Vegetables will be appreciated, flakes and pellets will also work they are not picky eaters.

Behaviour: Can get aggressive during breeding, they will fight for territories. Not suitable to be kept with Neons and tetras that are similar size since they are natural prey for Angels.

Tank size: Tall aquariums are best for fin development. Usally 29 gallons for one Angelfish usually plus 10 for another due to tempermets. For breeding purposes 20 gallon tall wll be perfect.

Sexual differenes: Best way to sex them is during spawning males' breeding tubes will be pointed and thin, females' will be round and thick.

This species of Cichlids are a favourite amoung many hobbiests over the years and they are a great addition to lots of tanks. I have kept many Angelfish as I grew up and theres nothing i can complain about these lovely species. They will love planted aquariums as their body is designed to glide through long thin leaves aswell as blending to such surroundings.

One thing to keep in mind while keeping Angelfish is their nature. They can be very aggressive when it comes down to breeding and defending territories. Provide a aquarium with enough room to keep aggression to a minimum. DO NOT keep these with small fish as they will hunt small fish like Neon Tetras as they're Angelfish's natural food source. Apart from this Angelfish makes a great fish for everyone, they are not hard to breed if conditions are kept right. I assure you that Angelfish are deeply enjoyable to keep and raise.
