Hi everyone,

So, I just bought a new Sengal Bichir and I came home drip acclimated it and it swam around observing its new environment, but I want to know more about it like care and your personal experiences.  It's been a day and he has colored up (yesterday he was pink and now he is brown- I"m thinking from stress), he is eating his bloodworms (about 3-5) and is sluggish.  He pops out now and then but he has calmed down, and stays near one side of my aquarium.  Hes not being picked on and he seems comfortable, so I think he likes the plants and my water parameters.  Note, he is only 2.5 in and I want to buy a second one about the same size since my tank can fit two.

Thank you for reading,

Hunter D.

*More post about him or her soon like growth, gender, overall health, and breeding information soon!!

I had one in the past that grew to be about 10". They are fairly easy to take care of and will eat anything including small fish that get to close to their mouths. You can put them with other fish just make sure the other fish are larger and or the same size as the bichir.

Birchirs are so cool. I had a Senegal once and used to tell my cousins it was a real baby water dragon haha. He grew to about 7 inches until I got tired of buying him goldfish constantly haha. I sold him to my local fish store. But very cool fish!
