umm if im right it isnt harmful to fish. but i would try to remove it or get something that will eat it like a amano shrimp.hope the helps a little.

Algae is never bad for fish and is almost always good. But the unsightly appearance drives people crazy. Your fish are fine. if you wanna get rid of it - starve it with floating plants which outcompete the algae (and your other plants) for nutrients.

I had this problem in a small 2.5gal.  It doesn't do anything bad to your fish like everyone else said, but it is ugly and will consume what ever it grows on. There is a product call Flourish Excel, white bottle green lettering, and put a cap full for every 10 gallons, and through out the day put your lights on for 1 hour and keep it off for 2 hours, then repeat.  What this is, is a source of CO2 and keeping the lights on for an hour gets plants ready to start photosynthesis, and after the hour the plants, what you call equivalent to pores will open, and this will help kinda blast it of the plant. This will take about 2-3 weeks to do to make your tank look nice again, maybe a little more if the algae growth is bad.
