Alright so I'm not so sure on whats going on in my tank you may want to take a look at my previous post to get a better idea but my Ph is CONSTANTLY high i can't get it to come down no matter how much I try what chemicals I put in it. I mean this is unhealthily high as well it bordering on tap water Ph... My ammonia seems to be in check since it is a new tank I expect ammonia fluctuation, none of my fish have died yet but I would very much appreciate some feed back.

When I put water into my tank I use distilled water from the store I'm not sure if this is my problem or not.

Just do waterchanges every other day and u don't need to wait for tank to cycle. Ph isn't a problem for fish now a days. I keep discus in 7.8 water sooo yea if its going way up for u u must have added crush coral or some stones that new with ph

Also to add about drift wood. The Tania lowers the ph not the wood itself so after it stops releasing Tanis ur ph will just go up again. Same with peat once it stops leeching tannis the ph will rise especially if u do lots of waterchanges ur ph will fluctuate alot. So best bet is to use all that and ro/di water or rainwater for waterchanges.

well i live in Arizona so rainwater isn't really a luxury I will have until monsoon season and then it will be all dirty... so I'm working on getting some water distilled at the moment

I also had the same problem in 30g without killing any fish. I added two pieces of drift wood and it seem to so the job. Water changes every two weeks was also helpful.

how do you guys do your water changes because I'm thinking buying distilled water every other week is going to get expensive

I use reg ok tap water ph at 7.8... But cus I run co2 it lowers the ph. Plus I have mraqua soil (amano soil knockoff) which lowers the ph also to 6.4-6.8ph my discus don't mind wen I do water changes and I do 90% wc on my tank. Ro/Di water and distiller water gets expensive i u keep buying it

I use Seachem Acid buffer/Alkaline buffer to target a certain PH.  If you use a 2 parts alkaline, 1 part acid mix it comes out to 7.0 (neutral) everytime.  Make sure to get the "buffers" though, I find the regulators to not be helpful at all.

I would stop putting chemicals in the water for your PH.  To lower your PH I would say add some Driftwood and Peat Moss.  That should help, You want to lower your PH slowly also bc if you lower it to much to fast your fish will freak out.

Yeah I've completely stopped messing with chemicals. What I've been doing is (started yesterday) not feeding or messing with the tank too much because I was way over feeding at first. tomorrow I'll start feeding again just on an every other day basis until the water has completely cleared up. I'll look into peat moss but will it stain my water?
