I haven't seen many catfish in any of the planted aquariums I have seen. I have 3 small Cory cats, 3 small Syno cats, a small Spotted Raphael, a small Pictus cat, a medium size Rope fish, a small Electric cat, a small Golden Dojo loach, a small Horseface loach, a small Banjo cat and a Peacock Eel along with my baby Yellow Sun Spotted cat and a small Asian spotted Upside-down cat. I have plans to move the fish into larger tanks once they've grown a little more. I would like to hear any advice from anyone who has experience with any of these fish and planted aquariums. I am new to the whole planted theme and I am most definitely going to need some advice. I wonder if these fish will uproot the plants. How many to keep in a 55gal tank. How often to do a water change. Placement of the plants. Lighting, Co2, etc. Thanks for any info.

I don't have a lot of experience with catfish, but they're not that different from other tropicals. The more water changes the better, and the more plants the better. Fish produce Co2; so I'd pass on the Co2 supplement. I wouldn't mix too many species together either.

If your plants seem to be lagging add ferts.

My goal, originally, was to have several different catfish together. I may have too many, but it's what I have. I want to add the live plants and I could use all the advice I can get. I am in the process of setting up a "dirted tank" and I hope to have many plants that I can transplant into my other tanks in time. I'm also going to set up another tank so I can move some fish into a new home with more room. If anyone has any experience with live plants in a tank with catfish, I would like to hear about it. Thanks

I wouldn't put eels in the dirted tank. They not only dig up plants but will stir the dirt up as well.
