im just starting to set up a 50 gallon and i wanted to know how much discus i can put in the 50g?
i was wondering 3 or 4 and planted and maybe some neons and cory.
also i was wondering is it ok to put discus and angelfish together in one . thank you
Tank size is an important factor when determining the amount of fish to buy. But water quality is just as important. In perfect water you could probably fit 15 Discus comfortably in the 50. But please don't try this!! I'm just trying to illustrate the importance of water quality - especially as it pertains to Discus.
Peter's about right. Ultimately the fish will tell you if they're too crowded. For example, if they're sucking for air at the water's surface you've got too many fish (or your water is messed up). And you'll definitely know whether or not they're getting along with the other inhabitants.
I've never kept discus, so i really can't tell you much about them. I do not recommend you keep angels with discus. Angels can get way too stressed out in too warm of conditions, witch would be perfect for discus. So If you want to keep your water at a steady 85, your most likely going to stress your angels. that scenario wouldn't play out very well. lol
All I know about angel fish is that they are very aggressive, the few I had years ago would kill any new fish I put into the tank. So no more angels, lots more other fish.
