Filter leaking need help!!!

My fluval 205 started leaking today on my 26 gallon bowfront. So I Took all the media and just placed then in the tank. The seal went bad, I just ordered a new one today. I'm not going to have the filter run while it leaks because I rent and don't want to be responsible for any damage. But the question I want to ask is, if I add a power head (200gph) and a whisper 5-15, will that provide enough filtration/water movement until my new seal comes in. The tank only has on mid-size Anubis and no other plants.

Comment by Peter on October 12, 2012 at 2:10am: That will provide enough gas exchange for ur tank as for "filtration" do a water change as needed "test ur water" . U can run an aquarium without a filter but u will have to be doing lots of water changes depending on your tanks bio load "how many fish you have pooping in your tank"

Comment by Robert Jango on October 12, 2012 at 3:07am: Basically what Peter said. Keep the tank clean by siphoning out the poop. Its a pain and the neck but siphoning out/changing water actually keeps a tank cleaner than filters. Filters just capture the poop and run water through it - quite filthy if you think about it. Discus breeders in the Far East never use filters - too dirty; they simply swap out the water everyday.
