Hey guys, it would be a lot of help to me if you could visit the fish and invertebrate section under the forums. I'm only posting this on blog because someone's bombing the forum feed and so you can't see my recent post. Thanks for any help

Before I start, let me just say that how I cure ich/ick in my tank may work for you or it may not. We all try different things and different meds. What work for me is turning the temp up to 86 (at one time it was at 89 help the ich/ick fall off faster). I add aquarium salt in a 55 gal 5 table spoon. I then feed my fish bloodworms or brine shrimp but I mix it with metronidazole. I do a 10% to 15% water change daily to keep my plants from melting, yes it will melt into nothing. It took me 5 days for the white spot to go away, but still leave the heater on at 86 degree for another two week I left mine on for 4 weeks. After all that I did a 50% water change. I hope this help some of you.

Thanks for responding! After doing hours and hours of research i decided i would first try a "heat only" approach, getting the temp to about 87-88 and leaving it for about a week. If it doesnt work im kinda screwed because 1. I have a common pleco, a clown loach, 7 sterbai corys, and 5 serpae tetras... ALL fish that i have read that have really bad reactions to salt, and I dont have a quarantine tank to move them to... and 2. I can't use meds because the ones that usually work are the ones that contain malachite green which would completely stain all my artificial plants and moving them would take forever and setting them back up would be a nightmare considering that it took me at least a week to set them up in the right spots. Thanks a ton for your response Jerry! :)

I wouldn't worry so much about the clown loach and the pleco but the tetras and salt, it will kill the tetras in less the two days. I learn that the hard way. Using heat dose work, but sometime it's up to the fish too. If it work(most time it work) leave the heater on for longer to kill all the non swimming ich/ick. Hope u the best.
