Hey, the last 2 rocks I tried in my tank, raised the PH even though they weren't supposed to, supposedly!!  I like to keep my tanks at 6.8 or so…

I'm in Northern California near San Francisco, live in Marin County. Anyone know of any rocks that won't raise the PH in my tank that I can buy locally at a rock place or even find? There's an ADA Store in San Francisco but those rocks are freaking Expensive Big time.,.. I'd love to be able to go to the local rock place that sells rocks to landscapers, etc. and buy them there because they are super cheap there and it would be a lot more fun… Thanks!

yeah i live in a heavy limestone area, not so great for tanks. if you put a little vinegar on the rock while it's dry, look for tiny bubbles, bubble's = bad news unfortunately!

Second the slate, complete inert as far as i know, found a whole cliff face of the stuff up by the coast this summer, got to find a home for it yet

Thanks… yeah, they sell those pretty cheap at the local petco, the slate that is…

You know I put in some mexican black stones that are supposed to be river rocks that are not supposed to be high PH, but they raised the PH for some reason. I even tested them… nothing…

Any chance you are in Northern California near Marin County?

Unfortunately not, i'm a uk dweller. they sell all sorts of weird things at the local big chain pet shops that they say can go in your tanks, weird. Have you thought about lava rock? can look pretty nice, i've used bbq lava rock to make larger rocks with some creative silicone before, can look pretty good. those dragon stones look amazing but are SOOOOO expensive, crazy
