Hi everyone,

My fisrt planted tank 2.5g is doing fine, but unfortunately my Anubias is having issues and I truly do not know what could be.

I am thinking that it could be the following:

Melting?

Excess dosage? 5 drops of Flourish Excell & Flourish Iron twice a week.

Too much light? Using a small compact fluorescent buld.

Or the invasion of Pond snails?

Need your help please!

Thanks.

DOesnt look like melting to me. The rest of the plant seems good. It would turn a yellow color and then fall off if it were melting.

Also, try daily dosing. much more stability and balance.

Nick, I thank you for your input, I will try the daily dosing.

Michael, thank you as well. When I initially set up the tank, I saw one or two pond snails, but now the tank is literally overrunned by this pest! Just in case that this is the reason for the Anubias been this way, I "hired" some Assasin snails to do the job! lol! So far, I've seen LOTS of empty pond snails!!

I melted some of my anubias by dosing excell with my filter off.  Since there was no flow the excell sat mostly over the anubias leaves causing them to melt away kind of like your picture.

Anthony, thanks for your input. I have done lots of research and it all points to what you mentioned on your comment. I think I will just stop the Excell dosing and just stay with Flourish Iron. This is all a learning experience and that's why I joined this great site!

Thanks again!

Just replace it with a sword plant, that anubias plant seems to be taking the fun out of your tank.

Thanks Fry. A few weeks after posting the initial comment, it seems that the Anubias has gotten better. I clipped the bad leaves and the ones are just taking off, and without any issues!

Thanks again.
