once your stem plants are grown enough you can us the cuttings to place them in front and around the filter.  I personally dont like to see equipment nor fiters so I hide them behind hardscape and plants.  Stem plants grow relatively quick so that filter can be hidden in a couple months if you dont add more plants.  However if you do buy more plants I suggest hiding the filter
