Assuming this is an established tank, I would vacuum the substrate, do a 25% water change then purchase a broad spectrum product for treatment that is readily available such as LifeGuard by Jungle. It can be found at Wal Mart. Follow the directions EXACTLY. Treat for the recommended time on the package. Give it time to work, do not freak out and begin adding additional meds.
You can always ask questions in the chat room--sometimes you will get a faster response by doing so.
I indicated he should follow package directions on the product--if I'm not mistaken, this product indicates the removal of carbon. Thanks for your input. :) AND GUYS--YOU ARE WELCOME TO ASK QUESTIONS IN THE CHAT--YOU WILL GET A FASTER RESPONSE THAT WAY.
