Setting up 20 gallon high.

It's dirted of course but couple questions anyone could help me with... For one , lighting , i know not too much because you need a balance I was thinking a daylight CFL ? And also could I put pool filter sand over the dirt or is gravel better ? Still little confused about C02 not sure if the fish would be a good enough source for the plants


And I'm a rookie any tips would be awesome

    I just set up a my 20 high with my own diy CFL fixture. So far its working great but I couldnt tell you how balanced it is as it has only been running for about two weeks. But I can tell you that while sand is possible gravel is a better option. And you could always run DIY C02.
