snails friend or foe????

I just threw in a pond snail in my 55g planted does any body have experience with them. From what i read i think its a good addition.

Comment by Uncle Phil on November 17, 2012 at 3:20am: I've had hundreds of snails in my tank before i moved, and they never touched my plants. There was enough leaves and extra food for them, that's why im sure they didn't eat my plants. From what ive looked up, snails will not go after your plants, but after dead vegetation and food particles. Once their numbers rise, if you don't have enough food for all the snails, they will go for your living plants. They have never been a problem for me.
