Are my vals suffering from a nutrient deficiency?

I feel like a jerk for killing all those innocent snails.

I noticed in my aquarium that the jungle val died down to almost nothing when i first introduced it to the soil substrate tank. I thought that I didn't have enough nutrients or light. When watching some of Dustins videos he said it would happen then they would come back stronger than ever and thats exactly what happened. I didn't change anything and eventually they all grew back and now need to be trimmed almost weekly. If you use a soil substrate it will take some time for the plants to adapt to the nutrient overload at first.

Exactly right Jeremy.  Once you acclimate Vals to Flourish Excel you HAVE to keep up with regular dosing.  They will come back over time though.
