Here is the article I mentioned: http://www.planetinverts.com/killing_planaria_and_hydra.html
As I said in the video, use this method at your own risk. I *have* had some fish die recently, but I don't think it was due to the dog dewormer; my first batch of rasboras died before I ever even put that stuff in the tank. I should also add that I don't know how long (or how many water changes are necessary) it needs to be before I can add any desirable snails to the tank.

Very interesting. I used to have a snail plague in my 20 long. I've always been afraid of using chemicals to kill them, but have found something that helps a lot. I put a large leaf of romaine lettuce on a veggie clip and put it in so it touches the substrate and leave it overnight. The next morning I usually have about 1 to 2 dozen snails on the leaf. I just remove it and discard the leaf and do it again until I feel I've reduced the population significantly. I do this every week or 2 and it seems to keep the snail population within bearable limits.
Yeah, I would certainly stick to that method if it is working well before doing what I did. I am considering reintroducing the pond snails, along with some assassins to keep them under control. I'm fairly certain that the pond snails were not the ones harming the plants. Heck, now I'm not even sure the ramhorns were either. The reason I thought they were was because the tips of some of the newer val sprouts were frayed at the end. I'm starting to wonder if maybe some sort of nutrient deficiency killed off the tips of the leaves, and the snails were just feeding on the dead plant tissue.
