You are lucky to be able to get female dwarf gourami's. I can't find them anywhere and none of the 4 shops in my town will even try to order them. I've only seen them online and with shipping costs, they're prohibitive. I've always thought butterfly fish get pretty large and are quite predatory.
Yeh, never seen the females before and always quite fancied breeding them. Turned out a little bittersweet as the shop they came from had an internal infection in it's system so the male and one of the females died, managed to save the other female tho and no other fish were affected. Won't be going there again!
The butterfly fish don't get past 10cm in tanks apparently. It is fine with the other fish in my tank and I plan on getting a larger setup soon anyway so it can have some more space. It does really love the live insects on the surface of the water tho. Been feeding it grasshoppers most days. Have also trained it to eat flakes now. Will hopefully be posting an update soon.
Never seen the butterfly fish before. He looks like quite a predator. does he go after your other fish?
not at all, just eats insects, but i don't have fish that are that small in there so i think it'll be fine
