No thats just black gravel with dirt underneath. This video was done almost a year ago, the tank has grown in a lot now and looks much different!

ahh nice. I just finished setting up my 40 gallon this afternoon. I used just 'black diamond' sand blasting media for substrate. Let's hope the plants like it!!
