To Un-Dirt or to Not Un-Dirt: That is the Question
Today is tank maintanance day but I've been thinking and want your opinion. Should I undirt the 5 gallon tank? Dirt is great for nutrients but gets very mess...

do you use just dirt? or is there gravel added on top of the dirt?

The 10 gallon does not have dirt as a substrate, only inert gravel. The 5 gallon does have dirt (capped with black sand) although I will probably be undirting it because it is too messy for my impermanent location situation (I move too much).
