Thanks!
NICE TANK BTW! IS YOUR HOOD ONE OF THOSE PLASTIC ONES INSTEAD OF THE REGULAR INCANDECENT LIGHT BULBS YOU HAVE TWO CFL'S?
Thanks! I just used a regular 10 gallon hood and replaced the halogen bulbs with two 6500k cfl bulbs from lowes/menards.
Thanks!
This is beautiful. The rocks look like the same red granite used in ancient Egypt for building the temples.
I've had plenty of aquariums over the years but I know nothing about dirted tanks. It's something new that I just happened to stumble upon this week and would like to know more about. After seeing your tank that you just set up I'm really interested. I was under the impression that it takes weeks to get a dirted tank going.
I have plenty of nitrifying bacteria from my 275 gal Aquaponics setup so seeding a new tank wouldn't be a problem to speed things up.
I guess I'll be spending the weekend learning about this new technique..
Thanks man! I'm really glad i went with dirt. The price is great and the results are amazing. Just make sure you get miracle grow organic or some type of organic dirt. Another tip to avoid clouded water in the beginning is after you dirt it, cap it with your gravel and the put it outside and let a garden hose fill and filter the water out for a good 30 min. Also check out dustins videos on youtube. He was the one who got me into dirt. Good luck!
