Best Filters. Whats your thoughts?

My favorite filter is Aqueon filters.

There cheap and pump out alot of gallons an hour.

4 way filtriation

So whats your favorite?

Aquaclears are great for the different configurations, but I've always found them hinky when you have a loss of power. The low flow setting though, polishes up the water pretty nicely.

i just got a fluval c4 hob filter for my 29 tall discus grow out tank, its the schizzle ! but everyone tells me Aqueon are the best hob and eimheim for canister. question for discus tanks are canisters an issue with oxygen depletion as im reading?

No there's no issues with canisters and discus. I have a canister on my discus tank

I like aquaclear 110 for HOB filters and Eheim professional II for the canister. I always upgrade the filter media and throw out the stock. I upgrade them with BIO-HOME plus and Marine Pure. I do not use carbon and instead use Polyfilter pads as it is both a chemical and a mechanical filter pad. Polyfilter can be cut to fit any size filter and it last forever.

I have a Marineland 530c on my 90, with an undergravel filter with 2 powerheads, a Whisper HOB, from my 60, a UV filter that makes the water crystal clear. Everything seems fine except for my nitrate level, which I fix by doing regular vacuuming of the gravel while changing about 50% of the water weekly. All the other chemistry is either 0% or so low that there is no threat. I have fish that are more than 5 years old and the deaths are due to finding a way to hop out or gettting stick to the intake of the 530, which I have fixed for sure.

Don't forget you can customize and exchange media in your HOB with use of lava rocks, polyester, and ceramic ring material etc.!
Just found that out today.
