I am also confused about peat how much should i use and
 where can i get it

I used a fair amount of peat on the bottom with the clay in my 15 gallon and every turned out fine. The crypts and swords are growing like crazy, with the swords putting out runners with flowers.

Can you be a little more specific as to how much of each you used of clay and peat

I used about a 1 1/2 cup of peat for my 15 gallon. I spread it thin to the point where it was even across. As for the clay the picture below is about how I made my clay look. I put more in the back where my swords are.

Look at pic.

Roll the clay up into lilo balls and mix them up with the soil.
Or do what I did in my pic.

I used about 2.5lb of clay for my 55g. I dried them and broke it into little pieces. Then I mixed it in with the dirt evenly.
