Hi all

I just started a dirt tank. I watched a few videos that Dustin posted about how to start one. I had my dirt in water for 2 months and I have now fulled the tank up and start the filtration. As you can see in the picture, the water is very dirty, but it doesn't seem to be fine sediment. It looks more like the water is dis-coloured, with a visibility of just over a meter. The tank is a 720liter tank. What have I done wrong and can it be fixed easy?

thank you all

Well dirt tanks get cloudy at first will get better in a week maybe 2 weeks ur gonna have tannis leaching out from the dirt that will give ur water a slight yellowish brownish look but with water changes it will go away ur tank looks good doesn't seem like n e thing is out of the ordinary in ur pic. But just try and add some floating plants to suck up all the extra nutrients the dirt is leeching out. True floating plants not hornworts and stuff like water lettuce n that sort

Thank you very much. I will look for floating plants. I will keep you posted on the progress. Thanks once again.

Drain the water multiple times after refilling it until the tannin leaves the water. It could also be from the wood leach out the tan color.
