My Vals are sending out runners to the front of the aquarium which is not where I would like them to start growing. I would like to clip them and transplant them in another barren area of the tank to fill it in. The question how long do I have to wait until I can separate the new plants?

If they have some roots you can cut them
roots and leaves, i would say at least an 1.5" if you don't mind them there for a little while let m get a little bigger

let them grow 3-4 inch then cut the stem ataching it and replant were you want

if you do it too early 1-2 inch it takes a wile to grow in the new spot

I agree with this. I also found out that a soon as the Daughter plant is about 1/3 the size of the Mother plant is a good indication to separate the Daughter from Mother.  If left attached, the Daughter plant will start to take a lot of nutrients from the Mother plant.
I clipped them yesterday and replanted some the the back and made sure that the runner starting starting was pointing towards the back. It was about 2 - 3 ins when i pulled it up. Will the mother plant send out runners again?

yeah they send them out all the time after the first one I'v have plants with 2 and 4 runners at a time

you can cut the mother plant really short 5-6 inch and it will get thicker growth and send runners out quicker it was Dustin that told me to do it and it worked

mine just grow like mad if I don't trim for 3 weeks they grow to the top of the tank and then along the lenth of the 4 foot tank

When you mean "trim" do you mean cut across the top, like a haircut? Or do you cut out the leaves? I'm curious because my Vals have been taking awhile to establish. I haven't trimmed them since since up about 1 month and half ago. Some of the leaves are pretty beat up. Should I just leave it until I see new growth? Sorry to hijack.
Now I see what you are talking about, the mother plant just out another runner to the front of the aquarium again. I really don't need to buy anymore jungle Val for sometime now!
