Hey fishtank people, I was wondering what some good tank mates might be for some Red Cherry Shrimp. Heres a pictures of my ten gallon tank.

Thanks, Nolan

Thank you, and about the bamboo im not sure what the deal is with that. I bought it at petco and it was called  like golden lace or something (front left) and the greener plant came in a bundle, but I have had them undder water for some time and they seem to be doing good. I think you could be right about them being bamboo thou.

Those bundles at Petco almost always include a non aquatic plant. It will slowly die away. I cant stand guppies just because of the fact they breed like mice I would go with some serpae tetra

any small tetras works fine as they can't eat baby shrimp.

I have cherry shrimp with neon tetra's, harlequins and guppies, plus a few otto's. They all seem to get on well with each other - none of the fish seem to take any notice of the shrimp at all.

" 10 gallon: normal temperature "

15 fishes a little larger average size

2 Scalares ( body size of a silver dollar- these are also call Angelfish )

2 Platys

2 Rasbora ( looks like a guppy at first glance )

1 Male Betta ( would look nice with your bamboo plant )

2 medium sized Corydoras

2 Pearl Danio

2 Swordtails

2 Pearl Gourami ( Dwarf )

Remember if you want smaller fish in a 10 Gallon you can add 31 fish

4 Angelfish

2 Rosbora or White Cloud

4 Zebra Danio

2 Pearl Danio

4 Neon Tetra

4 Head and Tail light Tetra

2 small Corydoras

1 Male Betta

2 Pristella ( small fish with black and white contrast in its fins, specially in its dorsals)

4 Guppies ( have fry a lot-remember that )

2 Bloodfins

Angelfish like Sword Plants, hope this gave you some idea good luck

He said 10 gallon mate, not 100 gallon. I sincerely hope nobody followed your advice, a lot of these fish are incompatible, far too large for a 10 gallon and incomplete schools. I realize you're probably new to this hobby too, so I'll just inform you about a site called AqAdvisor. It tells you which fish are compatible and suitable for your tank.

So, lets see what happens when we plug in your suggested fish. First, lets start with the medium sized fish. As you can see, all of those fish together dangerously overstock the tank which means that they will all eventually poison each other with their bioload. Not only that, but a lot of your suggested fish will fight each other. Betta's, for example, will fight with any gourami you put in there with him for the same reason they will fight any other male betta, they're in the same species group. Angelfish require at least a 20 gallon tank, and that's just for a single angelfish with no other fish in there with him. A lot of the fish you listed are schooling fish, this means that they will be very stressed, lethargic and shy and thus die faster and be much less entertaining if kept in lower numbers, which is both bad for you and bad for the fish.

Your second suggestion isn't much better, as I said before, keeping even a single angelfish in a 10 gallon is ridiculous, let alone four. Betta's will fight with guppies, and pristella tetra's are fin nippers and can't be kept with betta's or guppies either. And again, you listed a lot of schooling fish in far too low numbers. You simply can't keep one or two tetra's and expect them to be happy, they really need schools of a bare minimum of 5, with more always being better.

I'm not trying to flame you, I realize you're just trying to help, but by suggesting combinations that simply won't work you're hurting a lot more than you are helping. Please, if you're going to inform people for stocking aquariums again, at the very least use AqAdvisor on your suggestion to see if it'll actually work.

Zeroes danios work well with anything!!!:D
