I have dirted my tanks about a two months ago and there is still a amber color in the water. Its not the wood because when i had the wood in my tanks prior to dirting i never had tannins. I do plenty of weekly water changes and still after the wc the tannin color gradually increases. I dont use carbon in my filters and i heard it absorbs the tannin. What i find confusing is that when i watch videos of peoples dirted tanks they look clear with no amber tint. Like Dustins tanks for example. The dirt i used was miracle gro organic choice potting mix. Any help would be appreciated....thanks

it will go away in a while..

you can see it go away with each water change. I use to have a dark tan when i have dirt

Mine was like that too, I kept doing water changes. Like hmoobthor said it will take a while, I kinda like the tint tho. Dont worry after a while it will be gone.

I think you can use carbon for the clear up stage of the tank. What % of water do you change?

before i add fish...i do like near 80% water change to get rid of stuff in the water and the tea color =P a bit extreme but it clears that stuff right up! wait a week for it to darken and then do it again.
