I have my clown loaches in a 220 gallon agressive cichlid tank and they are doing fine.
maybe they just are more shy.
try to feed em and see who they avoid in the tank watch for bullying
try and give em a place to hide like a hollowed out rock.
thats why they come out with my tank they know they have many places to hide.
