It all started almost a year ago when I was going in to remodel and apartment that was abandoned for about 5 weeks. I had toyed with the idea of getting an aquarium going but never really went through with it, but in the apt. I found a 20g high tank. I thought "hey, now would be a good time to start one. After all, I have a tank now. The tank was filthy with brown water and algae all over it. I figured a little elbow grease and it would be good as new. So the next day I went back and started work. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw something move in the aquarium. There was this little 3-4" brown fish so it appeared swimming in there and ducking into the murk when I would come near the tank.In a panic to save him, I hooked all the equipment up that was left there and ran to the Local fish store. I told them what was going on and they directed me on what to do and what to buy to try to save this little guy.
I nursed him back to health and as you can see by my profile picture he isn't brown anymore. This all started my love for Mbunas.
Now he resides as tank boss in a 55g with 12 other various Mbunas and one pleco. Happy and healthy as can be. I must have done something right cause one of the little female red tops I got for him had a batch of fry within two months of being introduced in the tank.
This love spread to of course another tank. a 25g that I decided to do a planted aquarium with Tiger Barbs, Zebra Danios, Otos, a Bristlenose pleco and a redtail shark.
As soon as space permits, The Mbunas will be moving to a 150g, The planted will move to the 55g and I'll keep the 25 for a grow out tank.
But I'm not addicted.... Really.... Much.
