IM really interested in finding out the sex of my cichilds, could 3 males even live happily together in a 30 gal?

Generally, yes. I would probably add a few more fish in there just to spread out the aggression a bit. Maybe get it up to roughly 8 fish total

Lots of flatrocks ,water change of 50% or more and a bigger tank. a 20G long breeder tank would be great. U will need a male to spawn over the eggs once she lays them.Let your filter run off after u lower water a bit. This simulates a good rain out in the wild followed by water change after u let the filter run few hrs to the point it drips back into the aquarium or makes a good disturbance. This is my secret to breeding in my community African tank use water to refill the tank thats slightly cooler then your normal temp maybe a couple degrees. so they notice the temp change . 75% the time i do this i end up with babys in a week or two

Lots of caves ,Flat rocks (She will use glass of aquarium or flat rock surface to lay eggs)

50% or more water change

Before u get to low when doin a change .Let filters run where they will cause a good surface disturbance (simulate a rain)

Refill tank with water couple degrees cooler then left over water in tank

((simulates water temp change from rain))

I do all my breeding in house in the community tank. no taking anyone out nothing.

2 fish to breed depending on species i would say 20G Long if i had to choose or bigger

So if your heater is settings is 74F go 71.F on refill water the heater will raise it back to where u set it at they will think the raines have came and gone its time to breed . In my opinon its all about simulating the wild when breeding fish . I got my information from researching each kind of african i got. This seems to be most common method above for most africans

Sorry if im spamming your wall? im just thinking of pointers as i sit here.

Cichlids are great parents once she lays the eggs .The male and the female or pair will sit and take turns fanning the eggs. This fanning puts fresh oxygen over the eggs at all times. If the pair or momma decides to not eat dont be worried this is normal up to 6-8wks in some cases. maybe 4-10 days in my exp. Mom and dad will protect the lil ones from egg to 1-2inch swimmers feed them really well . if u dont they will be dinner . once momma comes back in season 20-40 days from after she has her eggs if tank is thriving she will be doing the whole ordeal all over again. once a new clutch of eggs is laid she no longer cares bout offspring from previous clutchs. some cichlids carry young in thier mouths some dont
