I have some and it will quickly turn into a bush if not maintained.  Some of the stems actually started running across the gravel like runners and rooting into the soil.  I let it go and then snipped in between each rooted area.  I got about 8 new plant stems.

1 other question if i leave the top plant floating will it grow too? i dont see anything that look like roots on it except these white stems things coming out of the leaves.

Leaving the plant floating in the tank is fine.  The only downside will be a crazy shaped plant.  Those little white stems are root shoots.  The little white roots are a great sign of growth.  Essentially you can clip the plant when the shoot is about an inch or more long and replant it as a new plant.
