Well had a bit of a disaster whilst changing the water.
I was busy cleaning the side of the tank and I didn't notice that the nursery tank had tipped up. No all of the fry escaped but some did. I managed to rescue a few but had three that I wasn't able to catch. At least four in total were eaten then there is the three that I couldn't catch. Two were eaten but one has managed to beat all the odds and has survived. He is still managing to evade capture by myself but also by the rest of the tank community.
I have decided to leave him be as I don't want to stress out the rest of the tank. Even if it is for a baby.
I will keep you updated on the escapees escapades :) a what age would people recommend I let the fry free? I know people say as soon as they are too big for the other fish to eat. Well I did think they were at this stage. Well I guess I was wrong!!!!

When the adults won't eat them is wen the fry's body is bigger than ur adult guppies mouth hole. Doesn't matter the age of the fish. So long it's body doesn't fit in ur biggest fishes mouth they will be fine this is why no body can say 100% when Is the right time to let it smaller fish in with the bigger 1s

I don't know if you have plants in your tank but floating plants are great for fry - even plastic ones will save your babies,  Not just one - a bunch of floating plants !!!

Boy, doesn't that just hurt though. I remember.....and this seems crazy.....but I remember losing my first fry and thinking how horrible it was. I was seriously distressed. I can't say I take it well now but at least its not 100% devastating for me anymore. It does hurt though to see them eaten or to have them die.

They can't be released if the larger fish will eat or harass them. Adding floating plants is a great idea. In addition to Water Sprite, you can clip Java Moss to the top edge of the aquarium so that it hangs over the edge into the water. I throw my newly hatched baby brine shrimp into the Java Moss where the fry can eat them without being crowded out by the adult guppies.

Yes it was the worst. I do have a planted tank but think I could do with a few more. I haven't got a clue what the names of them are though.
