I have a new 90 gallon tank and I am only using the Whisper filter on the back of it (from my old 60 gallon), and under gravel filter with 2 power heads plus a homemade biological filter that is a 4 inch PVC pipe about 48 inches long.  The chemistry of the water is excellent, it is  a planted tank with a homemade CO 2 generator.  Everything seems fine but I am looking for a canister filter to add to this setup.  Any suggestions on what works well and is easy to maintain.   Thanks, Fred

I've never tried one but in the next tank I set up I'm gonna try a reverse flow undergravel filter. Its the exact same thing as a canister filter but its invisible and never needs cleaning - or at least that's what I've read.

If you think about it this is how ponds and lakes work - filling up with ground water entering  through its bottom or sides.

I was thinking about a Magnum 350 with a canister filter to get rid of the fine particles.
