how many plants do u have and u might have alot of excess nutrients in water so get floating plants or more plants

high or low light does not directly relate to an amount of algae, its all about balancing everything out together. if your getting algae with low light its probably because there is such a large excess of nutrients in your water. its not as simple as buying an expensive light will make your tank awesome. You have to realize how everything your putting in or around your tank is affecting it. If your have high light you'll want a lot of plants and a lot of nutrients and co2 so your system will perform properly. If you have low light there isn't as much of a need for as much nutrients and co2. there is no right or wrong answer to this hobby that is why its so awesome; the possibilities are endless.
