I read somewhere that dirt should be repeatedly soaked and squeezed out before adding to a tank to reduce mud.
However I notice that Dustin just dumped the dirt from bag into tank. And suggestions? Thanks!

its called mineralizing the dirt and it reduces the load of nutrients at the start so u dont have as much excess.

theres a difference between minieralizing and "soaking and 'SQUEEZED" dirt.

mineralizing dirt will make the dirt become more like a dust, allowing things to degrade quicker  and making much of ammonia sources to become nitrates instead.  Much less issues this way

When soaking and squeezing dirt, i assume you're throwing the squeezed water away?,  you're washing away all the nutrients leaving only stuff that wont be of much help to your plants.

there is a difference.
