So, I have a 90 gallon dirted with flourite on top (no co2, regular water changes). Been going about two years. Heres the current problems: cryps and amazon swords are getting holes in the leaves, amazon swords are pushing themselves out of the gravel(rhizomes are now completely out) and the roots are also poking out of the substraight; also swords are growing curled leaves. I think it might be time to re-dirt. I want to keep the flourite so I might have to shop vac it off the dirt(not looking forward to that). Thoughts?

When plants have pin-sized holes in their leaves, that is usually a sign of potassium deficiency.  I've been told that plants take more potassium in through their leaves than their roots, so assuming that's the case, you can solve that particular problem by just dosing the water column.

I have started dosing but I have not had enough growth to see if there is going to be a difference. I put this tank in front of a window and had explosive growth so I'm wondering if those swords sucked up allot nutrients during that time because growth has slowed a bit and leaves are as mentioned. I had 12 inch leaves with 6 inch stems; right to the top of my 90 gallon and then curled over!

for the swords eating so much you could try getting some red amaco(think thats how its spelt) clay and cut a few chunks off the clay and shoove in down where the roots are itll help feed them and bring alittle more nutrients back to the dirt
