WUFTP... Fastest way to introduce fish a existing tank that just got converted to dirt??

So after a year and a half of killing plants, I decided it's time to upgrade my lighting an dirt my 2 tanks. (I have my 35 now dirted with the fish in a holding tank and my 125 still to change over)
My question is is if do a ton of water changes and use existing filter what's the soonest I can put my fish back in the newly dirted tank?

Comment by Mr Meseeks on August 27, 2015 at 9:49pm: As long as your water is clear you should be good to go, I have taken the fish out of a 20 long, dirted and set up a 29, and put them into the tank within the same day, wishout losing any fish.

Comment by Victory MMA on September 2, 2015 at 11:18am: Soooo... Sad to say that every one of my fishes died :( the plants are not doing well at all but I heard that melting back is common. So far the transition to dirt has not been a good one, but I'm hoping to watch the plants bounce back and then will restock my tank. I think a couple mistakes I made was I didn't soak the dirt prior and I didn't push down on it to much to get the bubbles out. :,(
