Hey fishtank people! going to get a new pressurized Co2 setup around x-mas time. Just wondering what are some good brands? trying not to go to crazy with money. I was looking into milwaukee but has some mixed reviews. But help me out guys! what are some of you using?
Looking to get
Ph Monitor/ Controller
Regulator
And what size tank? ( i was going to run paintball with the adapter but maybe i should get a 5lb?)
All input would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Josh

I have a 38 gallon so i think paintball will work cause i have 2 20oz tanks. And thanks for your feedback what kinda regulator do you have ?
Well I got a Red Sea setup that goes for $150 for $20. It's not a good one, but it does the job and for the price I couldn't resist. If you want a nice regulator, from what I've researched, $100 is a good price. The regulator is one thing you want to be good quality.
There are other ways to do it though. A paintball ASA valve is a good option for very cheap and a regular needle valve from any Lowes or Home Depot will fit it.
Go on Amazon and look for AquaTek Regulators. Really cheap and have plenty of good reviews. AquaTek also sells Paintball Adapters, so you can buy one of those too and attach it to a paintball tank.
Yeah i saw those but worried that they are not a solid make thats why they are so cheep?
I don't think the Aquatek's are dual stage. As a matter of fact if the rear of the regulator is not round it is not a dual stage. Many people will sell a "dual stage" regulator just because it has to pressure gauges. Not the case.
I'd try the Aquatek though if it is still around $50. I think that's what they were sold for when I was looking.
AKOTB, where did you get your ASA? Because all the new ones I've seen look very different from the old cylinder shape plain ones.
Okay yeah i'm kinda sitting on the fence with the aquatek or the milwaukee. I have tried the simple ASA but could never get a consistent bubble rate.
This is what i tried to use

I've never really seen the milwaukee in action. My uncle actually brought me into this hobby and has a aquatek on his 5lb cylinder and he says that he couldn't ask for anything better.
That asa is actually the one I have. It does take a while to fine tune but after a few refills, I know how far to turn just to get the right bps.
Yeah, I don't think they are dual stage either. They're actually 76 dollars now, but theres a sale so its cheap.
I actually bought mine from a member on plantedtank.net Her names JaggedFury and she sells the regular cylinder shaped ones. They also come with the gauge and a needle valve for $41 dollars. She even has a thread on that forum explaining step by step how to assemble it. You cant beat her prices on the asa on/off regulators. But if I had more money I would've bought the aquatek.
Oh, I know what you're talking about. Those are Asa minis. They dont have the right threads and the regular size ones that do fit the threads are 45 dollars on ebay.
